For left aligned content just type, then press the Tab key once to go to center, again to go to Right.įor what you want on the second line press return after completing the first line then press the Tab Key The tab stops you mention - Center & Right - are preset by default in new documents based on the specifications of the Header & the Footer Paragraph Styles. You should be able to select some text in the footer and either double-click the proper tab arrow or drag and drop it into place. But I'm completely confounded by how it should be used and applied. If you click it, it will cycle through left / center / right tab options. There is also that little black arrow in the top left corner where the vertical and horizontal rulers meet. The option is accessed immediately below the 'Header from Top' and 'Footer from Bottom' settings on the Header and Footer tab. In Word 2016 (PC) there are apparently 'alignment tabs' that allow you to do this. On a second line in theįooter, I want to align a version number to the very right.
I want to align a document name on the same line to the very right. For example, I have a company name I want aligned to the left on a first line. What I'm trying to do is align different elements in a footer to the left or right. I've scoured the web and I can't find information on setting left / center / right tab stops in a footer (or header, for that matter).
